Technical Papers

ECF’s publications focus on environmental contaminants including hydrocarbons, PAHs, PCBs, chlorinated solvents, PFAS, radionuclides, metals, and others. Case studies feature source identification, fate and transport, risk assessment, and allocation.

Guidance Documents

ECF developed guidance protocols for planning and executing studies of MGP tar, PCBs, sediment core dating, and chlorinated solvents. Industrial and regulatory clients sponsored these guidance documents for ongoing staff training and project planning.

Conference Presentations

ECF presents widely at professional conferences. Platform presentations and workshops focus on priority pollutants, emerging contaminants, non-target analytes, historical industrial practices, site-specific background, and others.

Forensic Method Development

Developing and improving environmental testing methods is a core ECF practice area. ECF works with a small team of advanced laboratories to measure diagnostic compounds with enhanced precision, accuracy, sensitivity, and defensibility.

Environmental Sampling Protocols

ECF customized established sampling protocols for the detection of complex ephemeral plumes (e.g., neutrally buoyant material during oil spills and stack emissions during industrial manufacturing) to help confirm modelled areas of impact.

Process Chemistry

ECF’s process chemistry analysis (e.g., manufacturer raw materials, protocols, waste management, and site development) helps link distinct chemical fingerprints to site-specific historical practices and contaminant migration pathways.
